The full list of Spike Milligan items.

Spike's Awesome Output

For each of Spike's books I have listed the details of the original publication, then the details of subsequent editions. In my mind the images of the dust jackets or covers of each edition are most important. They assist documenting the development of his publishing enterprises.

Additional notes have been appended for most books and some added information on co-authors, publishers and illustrators is also included at times.

There is very little biographical information given about Milligan except where it pertains to his written works. I have left exploration of his life to the many biographies that have been published. They are listed here.

A bibliography necessarily contains technical information. To assist understanding I have included a glossary to explain terms used and publishing systems such as ISBN, first edition thus, and so on.

Spike's first commercial book was published in 1959, Silly Verse for Kids. His non-commercial (limited editions) began in 1969 when he published some adult poetry in a book titled Values, published by Offcut Press, Leicester and limited to 150 copies. This was the beginning of many limited editions Spike published

In the first decade of publishing the scope and possibilities seemed to be filling Spike's mind. He was now writing adult poetry, children's poetry, adult humour, a novel, children's stories; the Milligan publishing phenomenon had taken off.
